Consultancy

Advice and project work for UK businesses that need more than day-to-day support: a part-time technology director, a network designed properly, a plan before you spend, or a project delivered for a fixed price.

How it works

Three steps, the same for every service. No work starts until you have a written proposal and have agreed it.

  1. A short call. You tell us what you're trying to solve. We ask enough to scope the work, and say plainly if it isn't something we do.

  2. A written proposal. What we'll do, what you'll get and when, with a fixed price or a day rate. Nothing starts until you agree it in writing.

  3. Delivery with a named point of contact. One person owns the work from start to finish, keeps you informed in plain English and hands over documentation at the end.

Services

Each one is scoped on the call and confirmed in a written proposal before any work starts: a fixed price for a defined piece of work, or time at £950 a day, or £525 for a half day. Prices exclude VAT.

Fractional CTO or IT director

Businesses that have outgrown ad-hoc IT decisions but don't need a full-time technology director. You get a set number of days each month from someone who owns the IT plan, the budget and the suppliers.

What you get

  • A set number of days each month, agreed in advance, with the same person each time
  • A written IT plan and budget for the year, reviewed with you each quarter
  • Suppliers and contracts managed on your behalf: renewals, quotes and escalations
  • Management or board reports in plain English: risks, costs and progress
  • Oversight of in-house IT staff or an outside provider, where you have them
Price
£1,950a month for 2 days
Typical length
A 3-month minimum, then month to month with 30 days' notice

One day a month is £1,050. 3-month minimum, then 30 days' notice. Extra days at £950.

Network and Wi-Fi design

Offices, warehouses and sites where the Wi-Fi drops, the network has grown by accident, or you're moving in and want it done properly from the start.

What you get

  • A site survey: coverage, interference, cabling, and where the current setup falls short
  • A written design: access point positions, switching, separate networks for guests and devices, and firewall rules
  • A bill of materials you can buy from any supplier, with the reason for each choice
  • Management of the installation: contractor briefing, checks on the finished work and a sign-off survey
  • As-built documentation handed over at the end
Price
Priced after a short call
Typical length
Survey and design in a few weeks; installation depends on the site

Priced per site. Survey, design and install management can be quoted separately if you only need one of them.

IT strategy and roadmap

Owners and managers who want a clear view of what they have, what it costs and what to do next, before committing to new spend.

What you get

  • A review of your current systems, suppliers, contracts and costs
  • Conversations with the people who depend on those systems day to day
  • A written roadmap: what to fix, replace, keep or stop, in priority order, with a rough cost for each step
  • A one-page summary you can share with the other owners, a board or a lender
  • A one-hour walkthrough of the findings with you
Price
£3,500fixed, up to 50 people
Typical length
A few weeks from the first conversation to the report

If you then take the fractional CTO or IT director service, the roadmap becomes its first quarter's plan.

  • Mailboxes, files and Teams moved, with the timing agreed around your renewal date and working hours

  • Intune: devices enrolled, encryption and updates enforced and apps deployed, with a pilot group first
  • Handover notes and a short session for whoever looks after it afterwards

  • A written list of what passes, what fails and what to fix first, with an estimate of the work
